On the road again

Today we left the Upper peninsula, drove down with Brenda and Dave's in their RV, and thought of the great days spent together. We drove down through the lower peninsula, and kept heading south until the area of Traverse city, on the western side.

After meeting Lake Huron (in Bois Blanc Island) and lake Superior, today's mission is to get to see lake Michigan.

We said bye and set off for a small bike ride to our motel, a horrible place called Lakes n' trails (the room was so bad Anna slept in her camping silk-bag). We tried to overcome our horrified experience by going for an almost immediate bike ride to Frankfort.

La nostra stanza nel motel lakes n' trails era fatiscente.

Our beautiful ride between Beulah and Frankfort has been full of surprises, with a wonderful bike path, the best we have seen. Perfectly paved, and passing through a diversity of environments between the lake, river, marsh, forest... and of course Anna's first sight of beautiful lake Michigan. A wonderful birdwatching site as well, with a family of kingfishers annoyed at our presence, a solitary sandpiper, an eastern wood pewee, a scarlet tanager, a green heron, and a house finch among others.
