We woke up to the sound and aroma of percolating coffee in the big RV. Anna managed to get out of bed by 7, still sunburned from yesterday (imagine a cooked lobster). After realizing we would have needed to do 70 miles to go around highway 28, we decided to hitch a ride with the motorhome for the day!
La bici di Anna riposta all'interno della casa a motore dei genitori di Jay.
We folded up our bikes, placed them in the trailer car, and distributed our things between the car and the motorhome. We arrived to the Munising camping, on the shore of Lake Superior, in 1.5h (likely a solid 6 hour bike ride, boof..) Lake superior is the biggest and deepest of the 5 great lakes, and the temperatures are lower (max of 20 °C).
Jay guarda pensieroso l'orizzonte durante l'oretta e mezza di camper che ha sostituito la nostra biciclettata. Dobbiamo capire da dove proviene il rumore sospetto della bici di Jay!
And our biking? Today we talk about a baby bike ride of 6 miles - and even then we managed to get lost. Anna face-planted on a dirt road and we discovered that, like most bikes, our bikes don’t like going through deep sand. Jay’s bike keeps doing a weird noise, so we will get it checked tomorrow.
Jay tenta di capire che cosa succede alla bici, prima della nostra gitarella di soli 6 miglia.
On a side note, Jay seems to be suffering from too much bean dip: air quality is low, but moral is high. It’s like a rotten egg gave birth to another rotten egg.
No biking, no birding. Very few birdwatching opportunities today, and zero luck seeing new species.
non-biking summary:

Birding was anyhow exciting:

Common Raven - Corvus corax
Red-breasted Merganser - Mergus serrator
Eastern Phoebe - Sayornis phoebe
Swamp Sparrow - Melospiza georgiana
